The Tax Collector’s office is in operation; however, if in-person payments are needed, please call for an appointment.  THERE IS AN OUTSIDE DROP BOX FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE OR YOU CAN MAIL YOUR PAYMENTS.

Taxes Collected:
County General Real Estate Tax millage set annually by the County
County Debt Real Estate Tax millage set annually by the County
County BC3 Real Estate Tax millage set annually by the County
Local General Real Estate Tax millage set annually by township, is 5.75 mills with 2.00 mills as a “fire tax” to benefit the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department
Local Per Capita Tax $5.00 per person over 18 years of age living in Franklin Township: if you are not paying this tax it is your responsibility to contact the Tax Collector to be added to the Tax Roll
Slippery Rock Area School District Real Estate Tax millage set annually by the School Board
Act 511 Per Capita Tax $5.00 per person over 18 years of age living in Franklin Township: if you are not paying this tax it is your responsibility to contact the Tax Collector to be added to the Tax Roll
Act 679 Per Capita Tax $5.00 per person over 18 years of age living in Franklin Township: if you are not paying this tax it is your responsibility to contact the Tax Collector to be added to the Tax Roll

Office Hours:
Office hours are listed on your Tax Bill. If these hours are not possible for you, please choose one of the following options:

  1. If a receipt is desired, mail the entire Tax Bill and an unsealed, self-addressed, stamped envelope with your payment.
  2. If no receipt is needed, mail the lower portion of your Tax Bill and your payment.
  3. A drop box is available at the office at 2185 Prospect Road, Prospect, PA 16052 for tax payments made by check only; if a receipt is desired, include the entire Tax Bill and a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your payment.
  4. Call the office for an appointment.

General Information:
After December 15, cash is the only acceptable form of payment; no checks will be accepted. County/Township taxes are calculated on a calendar year basis and are billed on March 1. School Taxes are calculated on a fiscal year basis (July 1-June 30) and billed on August 1. All Real Estate Taxes not paid by December 31 are sent to the Butler County Tax Claim Bureau for collection. Per Capita Taxes not paid by December 31 are sent to a collection agency. The Tax Collector collects only taxes due in the current year.

Tax Certification – $10.00: Make check payable to Yvonne Neely and send the   request with a fax number or a self-addressed, stamped envelope to 2185 Prospect Road, Prospect, PA 16052.                                                                                                               Prior year Tax Certifications are available from the County Tax Claims Office.     Duplicate Tax Card – $5.00
Mobile Home Removal Permit – $2.00
Receipt Other Than Stamped Notice – $5.00
Returned Check Fee – $35.00

Receipt for 2023 tax year – $5.00: Make check payable to CJ Mitchell and send your information, a self-addressed stamped envelope, and the check to:
