Land Use and Planning

Zoning
Franklin Township adopted a new Zoning Ordinance and map in early 2018. Please see the “Ordinances” page to view the ordinance. Most construction, property improvement, or property uses require a Zoning Permit or approval. This includes fences, signs, pools, sheds, detached garages, agricultural animal and bee keeping, home-based businesses, parking structures of any type, hot tubs, decks, storage buildings, carports, sports courts, and gazebos. Please contact Shauna for specific help and permit applications.

Building or Construction
Franklin Township enforces the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code and has no stricter municipal regulations. Since Pennsylvania supports its public schools and county and local governments through property taxes, even construction that the state building code does not require to be permitted must be permitted for zoning and for assessment purposes. Please contact Shauna for information and original permit application forms.

Land Development or Subdivision
Franklin Township adopted a new Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance and associated construction standards in early 2018. Please use the links below to access this information and an approval schedule. Please contact Shauna for an application. Consultation with the township prior to submission is highly encouraged.
